About Us

Buck & Gilmore believe that professionalism and high standards in the care and management of collection objects is of the utmost importance. Together, Rebecca A. Buck and Jean Allman Gilmore bring more than 60 years of experience to assist registrars and collections managers of museum, corporate, private, and governmental collections.

They have published, through the American Association of Museums, four books: New Museum Registration Methods (1998), On the Road Again: Developing and Managing Traveling Exhibitions (2003), Collection Conundrums: Solving Collections Management Mysteries (2007), and Museum Registration Methods, 5th Edition (2010).

Both have served as Chair of RC-MAAM. They were awarded the Dudley Wilkinson Award for Excellence by the Registrars Committee of AAM in 2001. In 2011 they joined ten other colleagues as founding board members of the professional group ARCS, the Association of Registrars and Collections Specialists.

Rebecca retired in 2013 as Deputy Director for Collection Services and Chief Registrar at the Newark Museum after eighteen years of service there. She was formerly Registrar, University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, Philadelphia; Registrar, Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College; and Curator of Collections, Eastern Washington State Historical Society. She served as an Adjunct Professor in Seton Hall University's Museum Professions Programs (1996-2007) and as chair of the Registrars Committee of AAM (1999-2001). She holds degrees from Oberlin College and Boston University. She was awarded the John Cotton Dana Award by the New Jersey Association of Museums in 2004 and in 2006 was recognized on AAM's Centennial Honor Roll as one of the museum world's "one hundred champions" of the past 100 years.

Jean was registrar of the Brandywine River Museum, Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, from 1982 through 2013. She earned a B.A. degree from Wittenberg University and a M.A. degree from the University of Wyoming and completed the Museum Studies Program at the University of Delaware. She has served as Secretary of the MAAM Board of Governors, Vice-President of ARCS, and co-editor, with Rebecca Buck, of the journal Registrar, published by the AAM Registrars Committee.

They welcome the opportunity to discuss your needs and assist you in achieving the best collections management in the industry.
